![]() In july 2021 the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit reaffirmed the rights of the Cayuga Nation to operate Lakeside Entertainment at its present site. Lakeside Entertainment remains a Class II gaming casino. Department of Interior rejected an application from the Cayuga Nation to operate a Class III casino. On Mafinal settlement between the Oneida Indian Nation and New York state was announced that included a guarantee for the Cayuga Nation the right to build and operate a casino in Cayuga County. The injunction was lifted a few months later, the bingo hall reopened again in Dec. The bingo hall reopened in July 2013 but was shut down by a court order. The operation was suspended in October 2005 over a jurisdiction dispute with the local government. The tribe used the building to open a bingo hall in 2004. ![]() That was the federal law authorizing Native American tribes to build and operate casinos on their reservations. Native Americans’ influence on the industry dates back to the passage of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 (IGRA). ![]() The building is a former NAPA Auto Parts store purchased by the Cayugas in 2003. Tribal casinos in particular are an important part of the US gaming industry. Lakeside Entertainment is is located on Route 90 in Union Springs.
